What's new in Butler - April 23, 2026
🛒 Live cart view for shopping tasks
When Butler adds items to a cart on your behalf, you'll now see a "Review your cart" card with an **Open cart** button. Tapping it shows you Butler's actual browser session - with the items really in the cart - instead of opening a fresh tab where the cart looks empty (because you're not logged in there). One tap, real cart, real checkout.
🛟 Honest task creation feedback
If Butler can't create a task - usually because you're out of credits for the month - you'll now see a clear message saying so, instead of Butler silently dropping the request and starting a regular chat as if nothing happened.
💬 Cleaner chat: no more "I have your details on file" filler
Butler used to open every task with a generic "Got it - I have your details on file" message before getting started. That message made Butler sound robotic and confused - especially when there were no relevant details on file. Butler now confirms what you asked for in your own terms: "Got it - researching $150 newborn baby gifts and I'll bring back the best options."
🩺 Doctor appointments are no longer routed to the trip planner
Tasks like "Schedule vaccine appointment with Dr. Treat" used to occasionally produce call scripts about booking flights, because the word "schedule" matched a travel-itinerary specialist. Medical, dental, and personal-scheduling tasks now bypass travel routing entirely.
🔇 No more double "Got it" / "On it" on replies
When you replied to a task waiting for your input, Butler used to ack twice - once instantly from the page, then again when the task resumed. Removed the duplicate.
🐛 Fixed: greeting message leaking into task chat
The "What do you need done?" prompt from the chat composer used to get persisted into the task's permanent message history, then re-render in the wrong order on the task page. New tasks no longer have this.
🔒 Security hardening (behind the scenes)
Several security improvements you won't see directly: tightened internal-network blocks for browser-agent URLs (cloud-credential theft surface closed), atomic credit math (concurrent admin grants no longer lose updates), email recipient and sender-name validation (header-injection resistance), JSON-LD escaping on the blog (XSS resistance), and inbound-email webhook now requires a Bearer header (no more secret-in-URL leaks via logs). ---
