What's new in Butler - April 16, 2026

🚀 Butler now has a browser in the cloud

**This is the big one.** Butler can now open a real browser, navigate any website, click buttons, fill forms, and complete tasks - just like you would. While we're still in alpha, this means Butler can now: - Add groceries to your Instacart cart (and checkout for you) - Register your kids for classes on any website - Fill out government forms and applications - Book appointments on business websites - Search and shop on Amazon, Walmart, Target, and more - Complete payments in-app - enter your card right inside Butler When a site needs your login, Butler opens a secure browser window right in the app - log in once and Butler remembers for next time. Combined with phone calls (Butler can now call restaurants, doctors, and businesses on your behalf), Butler is getting closer to a true executive assistant that actually *does* things instead of telling you to do them.

Supported shopping flows with cart review and user handoff for checkout

When Butler adds items to your cart (Instacart, Amazon, Walmart, etc.), it now shows you a full cart summary - every item with brand, quantity, and price, plus delivery fee and total. Hit approve and Butler completes checkout for you. Hit reject and tell Butler what to change.

Payment flow shown at the time; current checkout requires user handoff when needed

When Butler registers you for a service or fills out a form that requires payment, you'll see the merchant's payment form right inside Butler. Enter your card details directly - Butler never sees or stores your card number. It goes straight to the merchant's payment processor.

Phone calls actually work

Butler can now call businesses on your behalf - book restaurant reservations, make appointments, check availability. After the call, you see a clean summary of what happened instead of a raw transcript.

Restaurant reservations via phone

Butler now calls restaurants directly to book reservations instead of trying OpenTable (which blocks automated access). For finding restaurants, Butler searches Yelp.

Intelligent login detection for any website

Butler no longer relies on a hardcoded list of sites that need login. It tries every site directly and detects when login is needed from what it sees - works for any site, handles expired cookies automatically.

Flight search improved

Flight search now falls back to Google Flights if the primary API is unavailable. Direct flight booking has been removed - Butler presents options with booking links, or offers to call the airline on your behalf.

Butler can no longer fake task completions

Butler now has server-side checks that prevent it from claiming a task is "done" when no action was actually taken. If Butler says "Booking Confirmation" but didn't actually make a call or submit a form, the system catches it, rejects the fake result, and asks what you'd like to try instead.

Browser agent now uses stealth mode

Browser sessions run through residential proxies with CAPTCHA solving enabled, making Butler more reliable on websites with bot detection.

Phone number normalization

Butler now correctly formats phone numbers before calling - handles formats like (415) 525-4174, 415-525-4174, or raw digits. ---
