What's new in Butler - April 10, 2026

Dark mode that actually works

Butler now follows your system dark/light preference automatically - no manual toggle needed. Every screen, every component. Switches instantly when your Mac or iPhone changes modes.

Thinking dots instead of a loading spinner

When Butler is working on your task, you now see a calm three-dot typing animation (like iMessage) instead of the old starburst spinner. It lives inside a Butler message bubble so the conversation feels more natural.

Recurring tasks

Tell Butler "order groceries every Sunday" or "remind me every morning" and it sets up a repeating task automatically. Butler asks if you want to run it now too, then handles it on schedule going forward. Recurring tasks show a 🔁 badge on your home screen and only appear once even if they've run many times.

Simple tasks complete instantly

Reminders, quick calendar adds, and simple requests now complete in 1-2 seconds instead of waiting for the full task engine. "Remind me in 20 minutes" shows a reply almost immediately.

Butler reads the room - less wall of text

Butler's responses are now dramatically tighter. It reasons fully behind the scenes but only surfaces the signal: a recommendation, 3-5 bullets, and a clear question if it needs one. No more "Word count: 148" or walls of scraped website copy.

Scroll stays where you left it

When Butler sends a new message while you're reading an earlier one, the chat no longer hijacks your scroll position. It only auto-scrolls if you're already at the bottom.

Push notifications

Butler can now ping your phone directly - not just email - when a task finishes, needs your approval, or you set a reminder. Grant permission once from the home screen and it works in the background.

Better phone calls

Butler's AI calling (via Bland) now handles phone trees and automated menus automatically - it listens to the full menu and presses the right key. Much better at getting through to a human at your dentist, doctor, or any office with an IVR system.

Pro plan

Butler now has a Pro plan ($19/month) with unlimited tasks, 15 phone calls/month, flight and hotel booking, and recurring tasks. Apple Pay works directly - no redirect to a separate checkout page. --- ## Template for new entries
